Artist of the Month : December 2025

48 year old Shashti Charan Bauri is a seasonal farmer and performer who has been singing Jhumur songs from his childhood. Seeing his enthusiasm for singing, he was introduced to a Chho dance group by his uncle who was a musician with the same group and ShAshti has been performing ever since.

Though he never had a guru, Shashti expanded his repertoire of Jhumur songs bit by bit as he travelled with the group for twenty odd years, meeting other musicians along the way.

Shashti has been performing solo as a Jhumur singer for the last 16 years only and is also a vocal accompanist at nachni performances.
