A foremost artist of Jhumur songs of Purulia district, Sindhubala Devi was a nachni. She was awarded the “Lalan Purashkar” by the Folk & Tribal Cultural Centre of the Department of Information & Cultural affairs, Government of  West Bengal in 1993 for her contribution to “Jhumur”. She had been a regular artist of All India Radio, Kolkata since 1975.
