This is a traditional winter harvest based alpona painted during in the month of Poush (Dec-Jan). It depicts symbols of a fecund harvest as well as agricultural implements. Traditional alpona reproduced by Rabi Biswas on canvas treated with a paste of cowdung and mud. The paint is a paste of khari mati or rice powder and gum extracted from the Bael fruit . Rice powder gives a brighter look.
