Shaitol Bishohori is a traditional fertility ritual practised by many Rajbongshis, primarily in Cooch Behar. Though Bishohari (Manosha) has her own separate worship, the folk deity Shaitol is always worshipped in conjunction with the former, both being symbols of fertility. Field work, research and documentation for this project were supported by a grant from the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India, under the Scheme for Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage & Diverse Cultural Traditions of India (2014-15).
