Traditionally, the patuas or scroll painters of Bengal painted pictures set to a song based on the epics. This was then displayed at local fairs where the patua would sing his song, while he took the audience through the story painted on his scroll, educating and entertaining them at the same time. Featured here is the story of Sabitri and Satyaban, from the Mahabharat.
